What is the CN eBusiness site, and what can I do here?

The CN eBusiness site allows CN's customers to do business with us via the internet. It can let you price a shipment, find transit times, order equipment, submit shipping instructions, track your shipments, view invoices and make payments - all online. Checkout our eBusiness Demos

The CN eBusiness site is a secure environment that requires strict control of access to information. Having a registered personal account ensures mutual security for yourself, your company, and CN.

Once registered, how long will it take

Applications are usually processed within two business days. Under certain circumstances, activation of your account may take longer.
Once your account has been activated, you will receive an email welcoming you as a new member of the CN eBusiness club.
If you have registered but not yet received a reply, please contact 1-800-361-0198 or ebusiness@cn.ca.

Can I register more than once?

It is recommended that you register only once. CN will investigate all second attempts at registration and contact you to determine the need. Certain circumstances require that you be registered more than once - CN will notify you if this is the case.

What are the rules for choosing my username and password?

The following rules apply when choosing your username:

  1. It must be unique. If the username you enter already exists, you will need to try a different one
  2. It must consist of a minimum of six characters
  3. It cannot be the same as your password
  4. It cannot be the same as your security answer
  5. It is permanent. Once registration has been submitted, username cannot be changed

The following rules apply when choosing your password:

  1. It must consist of a minimum of 8 characters
  2. It must contain at least one letter and one number
  3. It cannot be the same as your username
  4. It cannot be the same as your security answer
  5. Once registered, you will have the ability to modify your password

Can I change my username and password?

Once registered, your username cannot be changed.

Once registered, you will be able to change your password.

What if I forget my username and password?

If you forget your username and password, you can use the Username and Password Lookup feature to retrieve the information automatically. The process of retrieving your username and password requires that you answer correctly the security question which you provided in your original registration request.

Why do I need a security question and answer?

The benefits of having this information are:

Enhanced security - The correct Security Answer must be provided to CN in order to obtain information from your profile.
Username Lookup and Password Reset - Supplying the correct Security Answer will allow you to lookup your username and reset your password, should you happen to forget them.

How do I select the tools I want to access and use?

When you register for the first time you will be directed to the "Request New Tools" page. Check the appropriate box to indicate the tools you need. The recommended tools are already selected and can not be modified. Click the Demos button to preview what each tool can provide you. You can always add or remove selections at a later date.

How do I manage my subscriptions?

There are various news categories you can subscribe to. These categories will change, new ones will be added and obsolete ones will be disconnected. You can select and manage the categories you wish to receive emails for from your My Profile Update once your registration is completed.
