Advanced Search
The advanced search function allows you to look up prices using specific search criteria and download the results into excel spreadsheets. By entering criteria in the search options provided you can create a customized search that will give you the results based on your needs or requirements. Your search results can be downloaded into an excel spreadsheet and the file can be saved on your computer. Here are the search criteria you can use:

General Search Criteria |
The “Effective On” box is the only mandatory field. Only current or future dates can be entered. Check the “Include Public Prices” box if you want your search results to include public prices. Check the "Only include Rule 11 prices" box to search for Rule 11 prices only. Leave the box blank if you are not looking for Rule 11 prices or wish all types of prices returned. |
By Contract/Tariff number |
Click on the Edit button to search for and select up to five (5) authority numbers, either private, public or both. |
By Origin |
Click on the Edit button to search for and select up to five (5) origin stations |
By Destination |
Click on the Edit button to search for and select up to five (5) destination stations |
By Commodity |
Click on the Edit button to search for and select up to five (5) commodities. You can search for your commodity by description or by STCC number. |
By Intermodal Plan number |
Click on the Edit button and select up to five (5) Intermodal Plan Numbers from the list provided. |
By Generic Equipment type |
Click on the Edit button to select up to five (5) equipment types from the list provided. |
* By entering only a date you can retrieve all your private prices.
Once you have finished entering your search criteria click on the “Find” button to start the search. You will be taken to the Advanced Search Results screen where you will be able to select which authorities containing your query results you want to download.
If you wish to clear your search criteria and start over you can click on the “Reset query” button.
Advanced Search Results
This screen displays the authorities that contain the criteria you have entered in the query screen. The results are listed by authority in descending order of matching prices found. Below is the information found in the results screen:

Reference |
This is a reference code made up of the CN authority type and number. Clicking on the “+” on the left of the number will expand the list and the items or schedules with matching prices will be listed. If you would like them to no longer be displayed, click on the “-“ sign now displayed to the left of the reference number. |
Description |
This will describe the contents of the document and will aid you in deciding whether to select the authority, item or schedule for download. |
Prices |
List the amount of prices found in the authority, item or schedule matching the criteria you entered in your query. The number appearing under the rates title lets you know show many rates you have selected for download. |
Download |
Click the box in this column to select the authority, item or schedule for download. If you click in the download box next to the authority number you automatically select all the items or schedules in that particular authority. |
Select all |
Click on this button to select all authorities, items and schedules listed in the results. Click the button again to uncheck all the results. |
| Download button |
Click on this button to begin the download process. |
Perform a new query |
Click on this button to return to the query screen. |
Select the authorities, items, or schedules you wish to download and click on the “Download” button, two things will happen:
1. A box will appear on your screen listing the download options.

This option allows you decide whether you want to receive an email once your download is completes |
Download Station Groups |
This option allows you get an excel list of stations contained in the station groups which are part of your query results. This option allows you to get all the information without having to perform two separate downloads. |
2. You will be taken to the “My Downloads” page where you will be able to track the progress of your download and retrieve the results. If there are many matching prices, the results may be spilt into up to five (5) excel spreadsheets for prices and up to seven (7) excel spreadsheets for station groups.
