Price Documents
The main purpose of this page is to allow you to view price documents. This can be done in several easy ways:
- By looking at a list of documents (My Documents or All Documents)
that you are subscribed to or have permission to view
- By entering keywords that you want to search on for a specific
document or documents
- By looking at documents requiring your approval
Choosing a Document Type
The available document types are "My Documents" and "All Documents".
The values can be changed using a radio buttons at the top of the table.
Selecting "My Documents"
This view will display the private publications and public documents
that you have access to and/or that you are subscribed to.
This is a quick and easy way to look at all of your documents and prices.
The information is displayed in a table format with the following features:
| Column |
Purpose |
| New |
The "New" icon will be displayed next to the reference
number of documents that have been loaded in the last seven days. |
| Reference |
This is the reference number by which this document is catalogued by
CN, also known as the Tariff or Contract number. Clicking on the link
will display the document. |
| Description |
This will describe the contents of the document and will aid you in
deciding whether to open the document for review. |
| All Versions |
If you click on the document icon you can see expired or future versions
of this document. |
| Subscribed |

for this document. To update your subscription, check (or uncheck) the
box, then press the Update Subscription button at the
bottom of the page. |
| Update Subscription |
Press this button to apply changes made to your subscriptions on
this page. Any documents without a check in the subscribed column will
not be part of your subscription service and those that are checked will
result in notification the next time the document is updated. |
| Download Documents |
Allows you to select the documents you wish to download into an
Excel spreadsheet by checking the boxes in the "Download" column.
When you click on the "Download" button, two things will happen:
- A box will appear listing the download options. The first option asks if you want to be notified via email when the download completes. The second lets you chose to download the station groups which are included in the document you are downloading. This option allows you to get an excel list of the station group information without having to do a separate download.
- You will be taken to a new "My Downloads" page where you
will be able to track the progress of your download and retrieve
the results.
Notes:
- You can download rates from any authority – private or public (open tariff).
- Only current and future authority rates can be downloaded.
- You can download rates from more than one authority.
However, if you select multiple authorities, open tariffs cannot be
selected. They can only be downloaded one authority at a time.
- If you select the download checkbox of a public tariff, then
another document, you will get a message that will tell you that
you can only download one public tariff at a time. If you click OK,
only the public tariff will remain selected and if you click Cancel,
only the other document(s) will remain selected.
- You can download a maximum of 45,000 rates. If this limit is
reached, the page being displayed will give you a warning message.
- If more than one document was selected, then you will be asked to
unselect one or more documents and try again.
- If you selected only one document, you will be asked to contact
your Account Manager if you require a copy of the rates because the
given document is too large to download.
|
| Previous/Next |
If more than 25 publications match your criteria, the first 25 publications
are displayed and links are provided at the top and bottom of
the list to navigate between the pages.
Note: If you change the subscription or download checkboxes (check or uncheck) and click
on the page navigation links, before clicking on "Update" or "Download",
you will get the a warning message. The message will tell you that
you will lose your changes if you go to the next page without first
clicking on "Update" or "Download".

This view will retrieve all documents that contain prices on the specific product
or service selected. It is a convenient way to look at all the prices that
may apply to your products.
Entering and searching on Keywords (Search documents by keywords)
This allows you to retrieve documents based on specific words that appear
in the document. There is a limit of 250 letters in the search.
For example, you can enter Toronto AND Memphis to retrieve all documents
containing these words.
Search options can be specified as follows:
- AND . e.g. Finds all files with Toronto AND Memphis
- OR or ", "e.g. Toronto,
Memphis is the same as Toronto OR Memphis and finds any document with either
word
- See below for advanced searching capabilities
Notes:
- Date Option can be specified if you want documents that are
effective on the date entered. Clicking on the calendar icon makes it easy
to select another date.
- If more than 100 documents are retrieved, you will be asked to refine
your search by adding more words.
Approving Documents (View my documents for approval)
This section selects documents that have been tagged for your review and approval.
This option will only appear if you have privileges to approve documents.
Download of Documents (View my downloads)
This section allows you to view documents that you have downloaded (as an excel
spreadsheet) or are in the process of being downloaded. The documents in this section
will remain there for 2 days starting from the day of the download.
Advanced Searching Options
Important: Full-text searching is
case-insensitive except when a mixed-case search string is used. For example,
performing a full-text search for the word toronto is not
case-sensitive, but a search for Toronto or TORONTO is
case-sensitive.
Using Wildcards
- An * (asterisk)
equals zero or more alphanumeric characters. For example, charge*
will find all files that contain the word charge, such as
charges, chargeable, and so forth.
- ? (question mark)
equals one alphanumeric character for every question mark. For example,
charge? would find all files that contain the word charge and one
character after it, such as charges, charged, charger, and
so forth.
Full-Text Search Operators
Listed below are the basic operators that you can use in
a full-text search and an example of how to use them. For clarity, the
operators are capitalized.
Important: AND, OR, and NOT are treated as
operators by default and do not require angle brackets < >. If you want
to use these terms as literal words, place them in double quotes. You must
place all other operators in angle brackets.
- AND finds all files that contain all the specified words.
For example, polyethylene AND polystyrene would find all the files
that contain both specified words.
- OR (or , comma) finds all files that contain at
least one of the specified words. For example, wheat OR durum OR buckwheat
would find all the files that contain at least one of the words.
- NOT finds all files that contain the word that precedes
it, and ignores files that contain the word that follows it. For example,
wheat NOT durum finds all files that contain the word wheat and
do not contain the word durum.
- <NEAR> finds all files that contain the specified
words in close proximity to each other. For example, synthetic <NEAR>
plastic will find all files where the specified words are close to one
another.
- <SENTENCE> finds all files that contain the words
specified within the same sentence. For example, service <SENTENCE>
charge finds all files where service and charge (or any
variations of these stems, for example Chargeable and Services)
are in the same sentence.
- <PARAGRAPH> finds all files that contain the words
specified within the same paragraph. For example, service <PARAGRAPH>
charge finds all files where service and charge (or any
variations of these stems) are in the same paragraph.
- <PHRASE> (or space) finds all files
that contain the specified phrase (the exact words in the specified order). By
default, two or more words separated by a space are considered a phrase. For
example, mileage allowance or mileage <PHRASE> allowance
would find all the files that contain the specified phrase mileage
allowance.
- A , (comma) finds all files that contain at least one of the
words or phrases specified, ranking them in order of occurrence. Files with the
most evidence of the words searched for are given the highest rank.
- A " (double quotation mark) around a word finds only that
word and not the variations of the stem of the word. For example,
charge finds all content items with the word charge,
but does not find content items, chargeable, or surcharge.
- <THESAURUS> finds files that contain words that are
synonymous for the word that you enter. For example, <THESAURUS>
petroleum finds files that contain fuel and oil as well as
petroleum.
Important: Full-text searching
is case-insensitive except when a mixed-case search string is used. For example,
performing a full-text search for the word toronto is not case-sensitive,
but a search for Toronto or TORONTO is case-sensitive.
