I received the message "No data found for Equipment ..."

One of the following has occurred:

  • The Equipment ID, Shipment ID or pickup Number were typed incorrectly
  • Currently we have no information on that car
  • The shipment for the reference number has completed its trip

I received an error message when I select input "Pickup Number"

If you are getting an error message when inputting a pickup number for a specific equipment, there could be a number of reasons:

  1. Equipment is not active: Ensure that you are using the proper equipment initial and number
  2. No match between the Pickup Number and the Equipment initial and number: verify that the pickup number in your input corresponds to the proper equipment initial and number
  3. Pickup Number provided is missing or invalid: a validation is done on the pickup number. Ensure that it is valid and that it follows the suggested format. Refer to the Pickup Number Input for more details.
  4. The shipment corresponding to the Pickup Number provided is already completed: only active, en-route shipments will generate valid data

What is the "Search list"?

The "Search list" enables you to add, modify or delete up to ten (10) saved lists of Equipment ID(s) or Vehicle Identification Number(s).

I added a new list in the "Save search list" but the Save button is greyed out. Why?

If more than 10 saved search lists are present, the “Save” button will be greyed out

The Status and ETA information is on multiple lines

With the amount of information it is difficult to show it on one line. To improve the way it looks there are two options, either or both of which could help:

  1. Reduce the size of your browser Font. To do this select the text size/font size in the View menu. To change it for every time you enter the browser you need to change it in the Options or Preferences option.
  2. Increase the resolution of your screen. CN's site has a minimum design resolution of 800x600, however Quick Trace and My Shipments views are best viewed at a resolution of at least 1024X768. Unfortunately this is only practical on monitors of at least 15 inches or more.

Why are the "Destination" and "ETA" fields showing "Not Available"?

The Destination and ETA fields are only available if you are a current party to the waybill for the shipment in question.

When I click on the Map icon It does not always show the location

Most CN and partner Shortlines are shown, however the resolution of the map does not permit all stations to be shown. When the station name has multiple parts, such as Brampton Inter Term, try entering just Brampton.

Why is there no file extension in the save as dialog box?

If you have your windows setting to not show extensions of registered file types (in the My Computer, Options dialog) the extension will not display. It will be saved as part of the file name.

The printout is cut off on the right hand side

Since the response is quite wide you can set your output format to "PDF" which will generate your report as landscape.
