Tracing by Reference Number

What is this?

A Shipper Supplied Reference Number, or Shipment ID, is a reference number provided by the shipper with the Shipping Instructions or Bill of Lading. See the list of Reference Codes supported by this tool.

How is it used?

You may enter up to 35 Reference Numbers at a time. Separate IDs with a space, comma, semicolon, or carriage return. Values are interpreted as entered and must match exactly.

Sometimes Reference Numbers contain spaces (which is also the separator for the input) or other special characters . To avoid having a Reference Number containing spaces interpreted as separate entries you must enclose it in quotes. For example, reference 10733 AB12 would be interpreted as two IDs: 10733 and AB12 unless it was enclosed in quotes: "10733 AB12".

The following example shows how various input will be interpreted:

Cut and Paste

The input area may be populated by pasting data into it from another application such as a spreadsheet or internal system.

Procedure

Highlight and copy IDs from any application that supports cut and paste.

Select Copy from the <Edit> menu to place the data on the system clipboard. Then, click the mouse on the input box and choose <Paste> from the <Edit> menu. The contents of the clipboard will be pasted into the input box.

Caution: be sure to remove all characters, numbers, and special characters that are not part of the Equipment ID or they will be included in the trace resulting in a meaningless response.
