Tracing by Equipment IDWhat is this? The Equipment ID is made up of Initials and Numbers that are stenciled on the side of a Railcar, Trailer or Container. Exceptions: some trailers do not have initials, so you should enter NONZ. For containers without initials, enter NONU.
How is it used? You may enter up to 300 Equipment IDs at a time, including any combination of equipment types (Railcars, Trailers, Containers). Separate each ID with a space, comma, semicolon, or carriage return. Values are interpreted as entered and must match exactly. When querying multiple pieces of equipment that share the same Initials, you may enter the Initials only once, followed by multiple Numbers. The tool will use the Initials with each of the Numbers that follow to perform the trace, until a new set of Initials is found. The following example shows how various input will be interpreted:
Cut and PasteThe input area may be populated by pasting data into it from another application such as a spreadsheet or internal system. ProcedureHighlight and copy IDs from any application that supports cut and paste. Caution: be sure to remove all characters, numbers, and special characters that are not part of the Equipment ID or they will be included in the trace resulting in a meaningless response. |
